Per Gartner, by 2024, organizations will lower operational costs by 30% by combining hyperautomation technologies with redesigned operational processes

The hyperautomation wave and it being the Gartner’s Top 10 Strategic Technological Trends for 2020 itself confirms our view that automation, especially intelligent automation – can potentially change the way we work, for the better.

Win in the turns and keep a count of the latest tech trends in 2020 and how it will affect your organization and the way you work.

What is Hyperautomation?

Hyperautomation starts with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) at its very core, brings together several components of process automation, integrating tools and technologies that amplify the ability to automate.

It expands the automation capability with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Process Mining, and other tools.

The idea is to keep automating more and more knowledge work and engage everyone in your organization to be part of this very transformation.

Why is Hyperautomation a Top 10 Trend?

Hyperautomation deals in application of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to increasingly automate processes and augment humans.

As no tool can replace humans, hyperautomation is an amalgamation of tools such as robotic process automation (RPA), intelligent business management software (iBPMS) and AI, with a goal of increasingly AI-driven decision making.

Although not the main goal, hyperautomation often results in the creation of a digital twin of the organization (DTO), that allows organizations to visualize how processes, functions and KPIs interact to drive value. The DTO then becomes an integral part of the hyperautomation process providing real-time, continuous intelligence about the organization thereby driving significant business opportunities.

Formulate what Hyperautomation means for your Business

Hyperautomation is inevitable. The pressure to keep up with the competition today, either for efficacy/ business efficiency are forcing organizations to address back-, middle- and front- office operations. Organizations that resist the pressure struggle with competitive parity/differentiation.

It’s a commonplace now that dozens of hyperautomation initiatives are already underway for many organizations – but they are often siloed. They are either not coordinated with business objectives across functions or are not aligned to business outcomes.

The result? Many automation initiatives are failing and languishing with other siloed projects that lead to increased technical debt and unsustainable IT data structure and architectures.

This is why it’s crucial to mandate a “common currency” to formulate, communicate, and govern the multiyear journey through a myriad of hyperautomation initiatives.

Businesses don’t necessarily need to use the banner for hyperautomation for this approach – they just have to ensure that there always is a common cross-functional approach to –

  • Connecting the business objectives
  • Designing for dynamic business capabilities
  • Leveraging the extensive array of technologies
  • Architecting an iterative nature on consistent and concurrent efforts.

To Summarize…

The technologies that are involved in Hyperautomation initiatives cannot be really captured in a neatly defined box – since they are dynamic and diverse. Hence, hyperautomation is a “set of business or IT process designs and decisions where the scope and the degree of automation delivered essentially spans a whole spectrum of technologies.

Furthermore, hyperautomation is not just an end state, but rather an overarching term that acts as rallying cry for IT and Business Stakeholders to unite and define a way forward. It’s not just one path but a multiyear iterative journey.

Don’t just automate – Hyperautomate.

Use more tools. Involve people. Build more robots. Leverage the complete advantage of all the technologies that are readily available to discover the true potential of hyperautomation in your automation journey…
