Roles & Responsibilities

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Chartered Accountant to lead Record-to-Report (R2R), Financial Reporting, Month-End Close, and Finance Operations activities. The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing month-end close processes, reviewing accounting schedules, driving process improvements, and leading a finance team supporting a US-based retail organization.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Close & Reporting

• Lead and manage end-to-end month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.

• Prepare and review Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement.

• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.

• Review General Ledger balances and investigate unusual fluctuations and variances.

• Perform analytical review of monthly financial results and provide management insights.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.

2. Balance Sheet Management & Reconciliations

• Review and maintain Balance Sheet reconciliations.

• Analyze prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, miscellaneous receivables, and other key accounts.

• Investigate reconciling items and drive timely resolution.

• Maintain supporting schedules and ensure audit readiness.

• Review accounting entries and ensure compliance with internal controls.

3. Accruals, Prepaids & General Accounting

• Review monthly accrual calculations and journal entries.

• Validate prepaid expense amortization schedules.

• Ensure proper expense recognition and period-end adjustments.

• Support fixed asset accounting, depreciation accounting, and capitalization reviews.

• Review accounting treatment for complex transactions.

4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

• Prepare and review monthly cash flow statements.

• Analyze cash movements and working capital trends.

• Support treasury and cash management reporting.

• Assist leadership with cash forecasting and liquidity reporting requirements.

5. Financial Planning & Analysis Support

• Support management reporting through variance analysis and financial insights.

Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and management presentations.

• Analyze trends in revenue, expenses, and profitability.

Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

6. Process Governance & Operational Excellence

• Prepare and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and control matrices.

• Develop and publish productivity reports, operational dashboards, KPIs, and metrics.

• Prepare Weekly Status Reports (WSR), MIS reports, and governance presentations.

• Facilitate meetings, prepare MOMs, and track action items.

• Identify automation opportunities and process improvement initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

7. Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business leaders, controllers, auditors, and finance stakeholders.

• Partner with internal and external teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues.

• Support audit requests and provide documentation during audits.

• Present financial insights and operational updates to leadership teams.

8.Individual contributor role and interfacing with client regularly

Who You Are:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory.
  • Overall experience of 7-8 years in R2R, Financial Reporting, General Ledger Accounting, or Controllership functions.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Prior experience leading teams and managing finance operations preferred.
  • Experience working with US GAAP reporting environments will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Retail, E-commerce, Consumer Products, or Shared Services environment preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Financial Statement Preparation and Analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, Accruals, and Prepaid Accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of General Ledger accounting and reconciliation processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Power Query, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Experience preparing management reports, dashboards, and KPI reporting.
  • Strong team management and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Process improvement and automation mindset.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
