Cloud-Based Modernization Enables a Connected, Scalable Future for Weight-Loss Clinics
We partnered with them to rebuild a legacy bariatric management system into a scalable, cloud-based SaaS platform. The new solution improved interoperability with state and national databases, simplified certification reporting, and reduced operational overhead, helping practices manage patient data with less effort and higher reliability.
Success Highlights
- 99.9% uptime across environments
- 10,000+ customers supported on the modernized platform
- 35% reduction in operational and hosting costs

Platform: Cloud-based SaaS weight-loss management system
Business Challenge
Our client has been serving the healthcare community for over a decade, by providing IT enabled tools and services designed specifically to help bariatric practices collect, manage and share information. Their legacy Social Assistance Management System couldn’t support a SaaS deployment model, making it hard to scale and connect with external systems. Practices relied on manual and repetitive workflows across multiple apps, which slowed operations and increased errors.
-
Legacy System Limitations: The existing system was built for one clinic at a time and could not grow into a SaaS product. Even small updates were time-consuming and risky. The platform’s architecture made it difficult to support new clinics, features, and integrations without disruption.
-
Complex Compliance Requirements: Clinics needed to produce certification and compliance reports (CCHIT, ARRA, BOLD, etc.), but the old system required manual work and duplication of data. With no automation and limited reporting tools, clinics struggled to stay compliant and accurate.
-
Poor Workflow for Practices: Users were forced to switch between multiple disconnected applications to finish basic tasks. Poor integration with external systems led to duplicate data entry and inconsistent records. The fragmented workflow reduced productivity.
Our Solution Approach
We modernized the system into a cloud-ready, interoperable SaaS platform designed to streamline workflows and automate compliance tasks.
Multi-Tenant SaaS Architecture
Transformed the platform into a cloud-based, multi-tenant solution that could serve many clinics at once. This made the system more reliable, easier to update, and better prepared for growth. Clinics could now access the platform anytime without interruptions.
Healthcare Database Interoperability
Added a web-service layer and integrated the platform with the Bariatric Outcomes Longitudinal Database (BOLD) and EMR systems. his allowed clinics to see complete, accurate patient information in one place without re-entering data, saving time and reducing errors.
Authentication and Access Control
Implemented an ADFS 2.0 claim-based authentication system with Single Sign-On. Users could now move between products without repeated logins, improving speed and reducing errors.
User Experience Overhaul
Built a modern MVVM-based interface that increased responsiveness and reduced task times. Users could finally complete workflows without jumping between multiple applications.
Certification Program Consultation
Provided guidance and tooling to support certifications such as CCHIT, ARRA, BOLD, and ONC. Automated data collection and validation reduced the burden on clinics and improved reporting accuracy.
